Community Concert – PMQ

  • Date & Time
    18 Oct 2015 (Sun) 3:00pm
  • Venue
    Qube, PMQ
Adjacent to the Soho area, the PMQ site was originally the Central School campus which opened in 1889. Established in 1862, the school was the first government school in Hong Kong providing a western education at the upper-primary and secondary levels. The campus was badly damaged during the Second World War and later demolished. In 1951, the Hong Kong Government erected the Police Married Quarters, which was the first dormitory in Hong Kong for married Chinese rank and file grade police officers. In 2000, all occupants moved out and in 2009, the quarters were included in “Conserving Central” initiative of the Development Bureau. In 2014, it gained a new lease of life as PMQ, which serves as a platform for designers and creative enterprises to showcase and sell their products. The project was awarded the Special Architectural Award – Heritage and Adaptive Reuse in the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards 2014.
