Promote Cross-cultural Collaboration of Music Internationally

Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Alive Concert to be staged at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center

10.22.2019
With the support from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Musicus Society will present a series of concerts under the Jockey Club Musicus Heritage Alive program, to tell stories of heritage through music and providing local artists with opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration. Following the inaugural activities at Tai Kwun in September, Musicus Society will present a concert with guided tour at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center on November 22 (Friday) to coincide with Musicus Fest 2019. Through performances and guided tour, the new initiative aims at creating an enriched and meaningful concert experience for the public at large.
The Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK) is located at the former Explosives Magazine of the old Victoria Barracks, a site steeped in history, cultural significance, and natural beauty in Admiralty, the heart of Hong Kong’s business district. Through careful conservation, restoration and adaptive re-use, this heritage site was successfully transformed into a cultural, artistic and intellectual hub. Since its opening in February 2012, the ASHK offers a great variety of programs in the form of lectures, performances, film screenings, exhibitions and heritage tours to the community.

The upcoming heritage concert will feature selected chamber works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Carl Maria von Weber. The program of this heritage concert attempts to outline the changes of the former Victoria Barracks and its subsequent revitalization into the Asia Society Hong Kong Center. Led by Artistic Director Trey Lee, the lineup included renowned overseas artists and local talents such as Colleen Lee, as well as Musicus Young Artists Audition winners Brian Choi and Sirius Chau.

In addition to the above concert, there will also be a free guided tour for concert ticket holders.
